Visitors to Myrtle Beach are in for some indoor pampering that will make the outside weather irrelevant. The area is known for two nurturing spas to help visitors heal from the inside out. Cinzia Spa is one of those, and it’s a 17,000-square-foot sanctuary of healing and renewal with features such as a full-service day spa and offerings for couples. Amenities include a full-service steam room and a 10-person jetted whirlpool in an outdoor garden sanctuary.
Rejuvenation Day Spa & Salon is the second top spa in the area, and it’s known for its massage therapy services such as Swedish/therapeutic massage and couples massage. Highlights include the Rejuvenation Signature Massage with hot stones and hot towels and a foot massage with “reflexology” that is described as “pure bliss for your feet.”
The non-summer months bring opportunities for indoor The Myrtle Beach Art Museum features 11 galleries that change throughout the year. Also known by its longer name, Franklin G. Burroughs – Simeon B. Chapin Art Museum, it offers exhibitions featuring paintings, textiles, sculpture, photography, video, ceramics, assemblage, and collage. One exhibition open through Dec. 10 is The Big Easy by surrealist artist Richard Hagerty. That exhibit features paintings exploring manifold realms, including mythology, astronomy, anatomy, botany, history, philosophy, and world religions.
And of course, the world-famous Hollywood Wax Museum in Myrtle Beach features life-like wax figures of your favorite stars. They have been described as so real that “it was like they were going to speak to you!”
If you’re looking for indoors activities, you might as well hang out in one of the top shopping destinations around. Top Myrtle Beach shopping spots include Coastal Grand Mall and Barefoot Landing, and examples of Barefoot Landing shopping destinations include Blue Moon Trading Co., Mulligan Golf Gift Store and Black Market Minerals. Visitors at Black Market Minerals will find beautiful mineral specimens, fossils, gemstone jewelry, and Bali handicrafts from all over the world.
Food. That’s one indoor attraction that everyone can relate to, and Myrtle Beach is known for its variety of options from casual to fine dining.
The Library Restaurant is just one example, featuring specialties such as Steak Diane and Salmon on the Reef. And guests receive service from tuxedoed staff who are masters of table-side preparation.
Wonder Works is an amusement park that promises to turn your kids’ lives upside down. The 41,000-square-foot facility combines education and entertainment, with six “wonder zones” including an extreme weather zone, a space discovery zone, and an imagination lab. That latter zone lets children create their own landscape by digging ocean trenches, building Jurassic mountains, and creating safari flatlands.
Wonder Works explains its own origins by noting that it started as a top-secret laboratory in the Bermuda Triangle. After an “experiment gone awry,” the laboratory was lifted to Broadway at the Beach in Myrtle Beach, where it landed upside down, with all of the great exhibits remaining intact.
